It unlocks the door to let you in and allows you to start the engine using the push button start feature if equipped. Within 10 seconds place a second programmed intelligent access key in the backup slot. Ford escape you must have two previously programmed intelligent access keys inside the vehicle and the new unprogrammed intelligent access keys readily accessible. Programming is now complete.

Remove the intelligent access key. Press the push button ignition switch. Within 10 seconds place a second programmed intelligent access key in the middle of the tray. Push down and release the brake pedal once.

Once the new key is inserted you can then proceed to switch it from off to on. Wait five seconds and then press the push button ignition switch again. If so the following instructions will walk you through the process.

If two previously programmed keys are not available you must take your vehicle to your authorized dealer to have the spare key s programmed. You may want to program a new or spare intelligent accesss key yourself. Place the first programmed intelligent access key in the middle of the tray. You start by setting the ignition switch to off before using a new key in the ignition and setting it to on.

Verify the remote control functions operate and your vehicle starts with the new intelligent access key. Switch the ignition off and remove the first coded key from the ignition.
