This morning was the first time the car was in freezing temperatures since i have owned it and after unlocking the door and opening it the door latch would not engage and hold the door closed.

December 15 2016 2 pm i have this problem every winter with the drivers door on my 06 ford taurus not closing when its very cold but usually when the car warms up it works well yesterday it didn t and today either and i let the car warm up 10 minutes.
Maybe just being able to get at it and properly lubricate it may help.
